豆油肉 Soy Sauce Pork Belly

Made my grandma's recipe called Dark Soy Sauce Pork Belly 豆油肉(台語) for my partner using our Sanyo Travel Cooker. 




Pork Belly were dry fried to remove most of the fats, followed by these ingredients 
- quail eggs
- hard tofu (水豆腐)
- garlic (the  more the merrier)
- black peppercorn
- star anise
- cinnamon
- Bael leaves (my addition)
- little salt to taste
- little MSG (if MSG is crap, listen to them. Japanese have been using MSG all their life and they are one of the nation with many that lived till 100)
- sugar
- dark soy sauce

This dish is best served with Malaysian Chilli sauce called Sambal Belacan.

Taiwan has it 滷肉飯 Braised Pork Rice but most of the time what I see is more fats than meat and it is the same ingredient used everywhere even in noodle dish. Maybe can try this for a change.
